These small ideas can be enough to make your kitchen look great. One idea is simply replacing or improving your cabinets. This small change can do wonders to your kitchen.

Remodeling your cabinets does not only mean repainting your cabinets. There are numerous ways remodeling your cabinets can be done. Here are some ideas on how to give your cabinets a new look.

Painting – this is the most traditional method of remodeling kitchen cabinets.  Sanding and painting can give cabinets an inexpensive new look.  Staining is an offshoot of the painting idea and works just as well.

Pickling – to do this method, all you do is apply a light coating of flat oil based paint.  Before the paint dries, wipe it off.  You can remove as much or as little as you want to get the wood grains to show through.  For darker effects, repeat the steps a second time.

Decorative ideas – any method used in painting flat surfaces can be applied to cabinets.  Ragging, sponging, swirling and many other techniques can be used to give different effects.

Refaced – while this is the most costly remodeling idea for kitchen cabinets, it will also provide the most change for the room.  If the colors, shapes, textures or cut of the cabinets are what causes the problem, then re-facing them will be the best option.

Cleaning – sometimes all that is needed to remodel the cabinets is a good cleaning.  Using a good bleaching chemical or wood cleaner will take the grime off and give the cabinets a new look.  While not exactly remodeling, sometimes this is livens up a room again.  This option also works well when considering remodeling ideas for the bathroom as often times a good bleach will remove most of the faded look. 

After doing your kitchen cabinets you might find that it is no longer necessary to remodel the other parts of the kitchen since you’ve achieved the look you were going for. The cabinets is the largest single element in the kitchen and often remodeling it can take days  but there are instances that a day would suffice.
